How retirement income is modeled

First-year spending is divided into monthly withdrawals taken at the beginning of each month. Spending increases once per retirement year using the inflation assumption. The remaining balance then receives the equivalent monthly return.

The result is an illustration, not a safe-withdrawal recommendation. Actual returns, inflation, taxes, fees, withdrawal timing, income sources, and spending vary. A steady return cannot represent sequence-of-returns risk.
